I meant to work in a quick mention somewhere yesterday, but didn't: Thanks to my mother, I am in the middle of Neil Gaiman's "The Graveyard Book," which just won the Newberry Award. Sure, it's a "kid's book" (whatever that means), but I am really enjoying it.
But just when I'm taking great joy in seeing Mr. Gaiman's work honored by the American Library Association, I learn that literary giant and Pulitzer Prize-winner John Updike has died. He was 76.
