First of all, be sure to check out the quality live-blogging of the Jefferson-Jackson dinner down around Miami from Kenneth Quinnell of the FPC, and Sinfonian of Blast Off! (Remember, Sinfonian -- the Internet is not a toy. Please don't break it.)
Both Kenneth and Sinfonian broke some news, which was sort of the worst-kept political secret in Florida: it looks like Dan Gelber is going to jump into the race for Florida Attorney General. Gelber, now running for U.S. Senate, had an announcement that he is suspending his campaign.
Of course, I endorsed Gelber earlier this month. Kenneth endorsed him back in March. You may also remember that Kenneth and I caught a little flack from Tally -- a Kendrick Meek supporter -- for getting "rolled".
Well, let me agree with Bob Graham, who -- according to Sinfonian's liveblog post pag 4 -- said it was "courageous" of Gelber to put aside personal ambition for the unity of the party.
Am I disappointed that Gelber won't be continuing his bid for Senate? Yes. But maybe not as disappointed as I would be if he'd stayed in and lost. Or stayed in and made it harder for Kendrick Meek (or, apparently, Corrine Brown. Have to ask: did anyone see this coming? Not me.).
In my original endorsement of Dan, I talked about his authenticity and his commitment to the people of Florida. That still holds true. In fact, perhaps now even more so. I hope Dan knows that he will continue to have my support, no matter what he chooses for the future, and as I said before, he's already helped the people of Florida. So thank you, Dan.
I'd like to finish on this note. Again, in my original post on Dan, I took Kendrick Meek to task for not being a fighter. So how about this: Congressman Meek, let us help you fight. You've got a tough one in front of you. Charlie is the establishment candidate, and he's going to have an awful lot of money behind him. But you can beat him if you tell the truth and come out swinging. Engaged bloggers and netroots activists across the state. Let us know you need us. Put us to work for you -- and for Florida.
Move us forward, Kendrick, and we'll be behind you all the way.

What's your position on Gelber jumping in the AG race? What happened to unity?
