It is also, as Google delightfully and cleverly noted in their doodle, the 55th anniversary of Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat on a bus.
I have always loved the Rosa Parks story -- it really is a great tale of America.

It is World AIDS Day. While we've made great strides with medicine and treatment, there still is no cure -- and HIV is increasing world-wide.
There is hope -- but there is also much to be done.

I heard Senator Judd Gregg on NPR today, talking -- bragging, really -- about how the Republicans would hold up any legislation if the Democrats tried to let the Bush tax cuts for the rich expire.
Of course, this is deeply cynical of the Republicans -- but don't you dare tell me you're surprised. This is what we voted for, right? Republican leadership? Tax cuts for the wealthy and cuts in necessary services? You know. That crew.
Anyway, I guess I sort of hope this is some kind of trap... set by Obama...? To prove... Republicans... are... cynical?
I don't know. That's fairly weak tea, but a guy can hope, right?
Well, be sure to call up all your wealthy friends and congratulate them on their tax cut.

Couldn't resist linking to this one -- new Florida Governor-elect Rick Scott is going to try to follow-up on drug testing welfare recipients.
Nothing -- not one single thing -- about this idea makes any sense at all, for all the reasons Kenneth gives.
