My wife is one of these incredible people who are smart and ambitious but without being in your face about it. One of the big turn-offs of Washington, D.C. for her (and for me) was the fact that everyone wore (and, I assume, continues to wear) their resume on their sleeve. It's a terribly impolite practice for a place that's not always terribly polite.
One of the main reasons we moved back here was for her to go to law school, specifically Stetson Law, just down the road from us. In the end, she decided against law school and instead went to the University of South Florida to get her Master's in Public Administration.
After a long, tough slog, she is graduating today, and to tell you the truth, I could not be prouder.
I say, "long, tough slog," but I say that only in the sense that I missed her on nights she was in class. For her, I think she tackled the work with vigor and enthusiasm. Duncan likes school.
See, that's always been the thing with Duncan for me. Sure, she's gorgeous, and even after nearly ten years of being together, I can still find myself flustered in her presence. She is beautiful, elegant. Sexy, too... but I don't want to embarrass her.
She is all of those things, but she is also smart. Extremely smart. Smarter than you.
And smarter than me, which shouldn't be that hard to imagine, actually. She is incredibly smart, her mind is incredibly sharp, and sure, it is great to have a beautiful woman in the house. It has been the joy of my life to watch her excel as a mother. But being able to interact, to talk, to share with someone as gifted as Duncan has been a happiness I cannot describe, and I almost assuredly do not deserve.
We'll be at her graduation ceremony and then out to a late dinner tonight. Good luck without me tonight, Internet World.
And to Duncan, I say congratulations, sweetheart, from your biggest fan. You really are the best.

Outstanding! Congratulations!
